X Factor reject Ruth bags juicy EMI contract

If an X Factor reject plays their cards right they can milk at the udders of the reality cash cow long after the final show. Well Ruth Lorenzo, the often off-key Spanish one from this year's X Factor is doing just that. She has reportedly ditched reality telly's Mr Nasty, Simon Cowell in favour of a lucrative deal from rival firm EMI.

Ruth let the news slip after getting tanked on champagne at a restaurant opening. "She was celebrating, EMI/Virgin had given her big bucks” said a snitch, adding; “Ruth blabbed very loudly that EMI thought she was the new Janis Joplin. There were a few sniggers when she said it. They think she’s a bit different to the norm with her Spanish roots. The rock angle appealed to them too.”

Ruth will reportedly be jetting off to the States to work with Steve Tyler, Santana and Slash (they obviously need the cash) before releasing an album in the autumn right when X BFF Alexandra Burke releases hers. Cue nasty media spat.

While Janis Joplin may be spinning in her grave, Ruth Lorenzo and co are dancing a merry fandango at the thought of outwitting the omnipotent one. But can she really make it without Cowell by her side? Erm, probably yes.
