X Factor New Zealand judges WIlly Moon and Natalia Kills sacked for insulting contestant

A pair of X Factor New Zealand judges have been sacked after they delivered a shocking string of insults to a contestant. Husband and wife Will Moon and Natalia Kills attacked show hopeful Joe Irvine after his performance at the weekend in a move that caused outrage around the world.

Irvine performed Cry Me a River to quite a decent standard but as soon as the judges were asked to comment, Kills laid into him over what she perceived as Irvine impersonating her husband who was sitting in the judge's chair beside her. She said "As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted at how much you have copied my husband from the hair to the suit. Do you not have any value or respect for originality?"

Moon then went on to stick the boot in even further when he compared Irvine to Norman Bates dressing up in his mother's clothes. He then said "I feel like you’re going to stitch someone’s skin to your face and then kill everybody in the audience".

Needless to say the audience were totally appalled at what they were hearing and thankfully for Irvine, a voice of reason appeared from fellow judge Melanie Blatt. Blatt told him not to listen to what he was hearing one little bit and even went as far as to let him know that she believed in him enormously.

An online petition looking for Kills and Moon to be removed from the show received huge numbers of support. On removal of the controversial pair, a statement from MediaWorks read "While the judges on X Factor are expected to provide critiques of performances, we will not tolerate such destructive tirades from any of the judges. They will leave the show, effective immediately."
