'X Factor isn't my world'

It’s Cheryl Cole-arama today, readers: the latest news is that the Geordie popster has apparently told friends that she ever even wanted to go on the The X Factor USA, saying that Simon Cowell pushed her into doing it.

This flies in the face of earlier reports, in which she was apparently gutted with Cowell’s decision to bin her from the programme, and even demanding double her money to appear on the UK edition of the show. Instead she doesn’t consider herself a TV star and isn’t all that bothered about breaking America. Which is kind of refreshing to her, in fairness.

‘After what happened in my marriage I made it quite clear I found it impossible to trust another man,' a 'source' quotes her as saying. 'But I did trust Simon, I let myself believe he had my best interests at heart. Now he's done this to me. I never actually wanted to do the American show, I'm not a TV star.

‘I had so many reservations. But he pushed me into doing it. He told me I'd be a star over there. And then he didn't even give me a chance to prove myself. I was gone after four days. I've been used. It's cruel. I have no idea what I'm going to do now. My life has been turned upside down.

‘X Factor isn't my world. It's not the be all or end all of my career, and I have no desire to keep trying to break America. I actually like the fact I'm not that well-known over there and I can live more of a normal life when I'm there.’
