Winehouse applies for residency in St Lucia

Amy Winehouse looks set to remain in St Lucia permanently following reports that the troubled singer has made a residency application to live on the Caribbean island.

La Winehouse has spent most of 2009 in St Lucia and according to the News of the World she has decided to wave goodbye to the UK and set up home on the tropical island.

An unnamed source spoke to the NOTW about the Rehab singer's residence application: "We are aware of Amy wanting to live here on a permanent basis. We have received an application and are looking into it."

Apart from escaping British weather, a move to the Caribbean would also be good news for Winehouse's bank balance as she would be set to save thousands in tax.
