Twilight stars surprised by ending
Twilight fans are in for a surprise when the latest film in the fantasy franchise, Breaking Dawn Part 2, is released in November. The film will have a radically different ending from the book.
Author Stephanie Meyer was involved in the rewrite, working in collaboration with screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg. The pair reportedly dreamt up the new ending over a long dinner.
Robert Pattinson was shocked when he read the new ending. "When I first read the script, I got to that part and was like, 'What?'" he told Entertainment Weekly. "And then I had to go back a page. It does it a serious justice."
Co-star Kristen Stewart was also happy with the new twist. "It's clearly made by someone who really cares," she said. "That's why the director Bill Condon is perfect. Thank God for him."
Stewart’s well-publicised admiration for another film director and her subsequent breakup with Pattinson has been the issue that has overshadowed the release of the new Twilight film. The headline-hogging split between the two stars Stewart and Pattinson looks set to rumble on into the promotional campaign for the film. Condon has asked for sensitivity regarding the couple, but that may be optimistic.
Summit studio, the makers of Twilight, insists that the issue will not affect the campaign to promote the film. "While it is studio policy not to comment on the personal lives of actors, Summit is moving full steam ahead," they said. How they intend to prevent journalists asking about the affair remains unclear.
