TOWIE in shock Bafta win

The Bafta awards are usually home to serious and earnest luvvies, a place for the likes of the Attenboroughs, Helen Mirren and Helena B-C. So the ceremony must have been rocked to its foundations when The Only Way is Essex was handed the YouTube audience prize, seeing off competition such as Downton Abbey, Sherlock and Miranda.

Accepting the award, Mark Wright told the audience, 'We're absolutely overwhelmed to be here tonight, even to be nominated. But to win, it's incredible.'I'm in shock. There's no way I thought we were going to win. And when they called our names out, and all the screaming... I'm still in shock.' Amy Childs later said, 'I couldn't believe it when they called our names out. I just hope I didn't trip over my dress! Did you see me and Sam jumping up and down on stage?'
