Top films of 2010

Oscars-smoscars! If you like your films, one of the universally respected places to find out which films are actually any good (instead of which films have the biggest marketing budget) is the American Film Institute (AFI). To prove this, their annual list of the best films of 2010 starts with the paragraph ‘which best advance the art of the moving image; enhance the rich cultural heritage of America’s art form; inspire audiences and artists alike; and/or make a mark on American society’.

If you do ignore the PR nonsense and posters on the back of buses it’s been another excellent year for movies, and the AFI’s just released top films of 2010 proves that, and there’s not a Sex In The City 2 or Transformer 87 in sights, and thank God. In no particular order these are the films we all should have seen...

BLACK SWAN, THE FIGHTER, INCEPTION, THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, 127 HOURS, THE SOCIAL NETWORK, THE TOWN, TOY STORY 3, TRUE GRIT, WINTER’S BONE
