Now that you have time to relax and put your feet up over the holidays, why not get into the full festive spirit and switch on some of the best Christmas movies of all time. Here are a wide range of movies that have been loved by both young and old over the years.

The Classic

To start the list are the classic films that are always talked about as favourites but may be unfamiliar to the younger audience. The 1947 film Miracle on 34th Street is a must watch along with one of the most famous Christmas films of all time, It’s a Wonderful Life. James Stewart’s character learns valuable lessons that we all can learn from.

The Romantic

Romantics will get sucked into the multiple stories in the film, Love Actually. While it is already 12 years old, the unique love stories that unfold throughout the film are surprisingly not dated.

The Action

While it may not be the first film that comes to mind when you think of Christmas, Lethal Weapon always shows up on the screen at some point throughout the holidays. What better way to relax and unwind than watching a 1987 film of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover chasing the bad guys all around town. Other action film favourites are Die Hard with Bruce Willis and the 2008 film In Bruges with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.

The Family Favourites

Will Ferrell is always the guy to get people laughing and that is exactly what he does in his 2003 film, Elf. One of the favourites for those that grew up in the 80’s is Gremlins along with Home Alone and of course, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Watching the chaos that unfolds for the Griswold family will make your holidays seem like a breeze.
