Bill Cosby has been in the headlines for being accused of over 50 sexual assault charges that have been brought against him over the past year. Many claim that they were drugged and then he assaulted them. He recently has denied all the of the allegations but this is far from over. Yesterday it was decided that the case will go forward after the defense tried to have it dismissed.
Here is some background information though of Cosby outside of the case.
Cosby met his wife Camille while she was studying psychology at the University of Maryland on a blind date. They quickly become engaged and married in 1964. Together they had 5 children with her, Erika, Erinn, Ensa, Evin, Ennis. All of their names start with “E” which represents the “excellence” that they will all achieve some day. Unfortunately their only son, Ennis was shot and murdered while changing a tire on the freeway during an attempted robbery.
As a teenager, Cosby dropped out of high school to joined the US Navy where he served for 4 years. He finished high school and went on to college where he dropped out and started pursuing his comedy career.
Throughout his career he would go on to star in the hit sitcom, The Cosby Show, which ranked as the number one show in America for 5 years in the late 80’s. He was the first African American to receive an Emmy and was nominated for 17 Grammy, winning 9.
Today all the past fame has quickly dwindled away. A once loved man is looked at in disapproval by many. His alma mater, University of Massachusetts Amherst, cut all ties with Cosby and the US Navy revoked his honorary rank of Chief Petty Officer. This 78- year old is fighting an uphill battle that he is bound to fall down.
