Star Trek trailer leaked on YouTube

Trekkies the world over are going to be peeing their pants over internet footage from the new Star Trek film. Although it is not due to be released until next May, a bootleg version of the trailer has been leaked on YouTube.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the man behind films like Armageddon and Mission Impossible II, the film features all of the cult show's classic characters, from Captain Kirk to Dr Spock, with Simon Pegg taking on the role of chief engineer Scotty.

It remains to be seen if the film will boldly go where no Star Trek film has ever gone before and appeal to anyone outside of the hardcore fan base. More importantly it will be interesting to see if Star Trek 2009 will be able to meet the exacting and demanding standards of the Trekkie community.
