Stand by your man - maybe

It’s rare that you’ll hear much from celebrity husband or bride about their marriage, unless it’s to lie about just how blissfully happy they are, and how their love will last forever etc. So it’s something of a surprise to read Coleen Rooney not appearing all that bothered whether her marriage to Wayne Rooney lasts the long haul or not.

She was waffling on to Hello! Magazine about her marriage in the wake of her hubby playing away with expensive prostitutes, and there was a refreshing lack of ‘I’ll stick with my man to the bitter end’ and ‘we’ll get through this’ rubbish. Instead we have a woman saying that if it doesn’t work out then it doesn’t work out. That seems almost radical given the amount of fighting talk sleb couples indulge in, but then we realised it’s still lurid gossip and we calmed ourselves down.

‘If it comes to the point where it's going to end, it's going to end,' she said. 'But if there are things to achieve...then there's nothing better than trying. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work but if there's love there you've got to try.

‘Once I got married, I got married. I never said, 'What if this happens?'. I don't worry about the future and Wayne's exactly the same. One thing I never do is look back. I take each day as it comes.’
