Smile High Club

Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last few weeks you’ll know that this Friday (18th March) is the climax of Comic Relief 2011. Money-making highlights from this year’s event include the profoundly moving double parter-doco ‘Famous, Rich and in the Slums’ and David Walliams ’24 Hour Panel People’.

To also help raise some lovely awareness comics Dara O’Briain, Jack Whitehall and Jon Richardson have played the highest ever stand-up gig. Organised by British Airways the trio did a 45 minute set 35,000ft in the heavens whilst on a short haul flight from London to Norway.

Talking about the gig, Dara said; ‘I didn't do any preparation - we were all just scribbling notes down at the start of the flight! We can't normally make jokes about aeroplanes though as it's a sensitive subject, so it was quite hard to think of new ones but all of our material should be on the tips of our tongues.’

And what was the fundraiser called? ‘The Smile Hugh Club, obviously. Watch the HIGHlights on BBC1 this Friday.
