Simon Cowell, always been mean

Would Simon Cowell sell his own granny if it came to it? Who knows, but he had no qualms about framing his own mother to get himself out of hot water when he was a lad.

Speaking on the Channel Five documentary 'Where Did It All Go Right?' (tonight at 10pm) Simon Cowell's brother Nick reminisced about the telly warlord's mercenary streak, claiming it was evident from an early age.

"Simon once reversed into the driveway and smashed into my dad's car breaking the glass. He picked up the glass and dropped it at the front of the house. He then let off the handbrake of dad's car and rolled it up to the glass and drove off. My mum was the last person to use dad's car, so Simon suggested mum had left the handbrake off!"

While you have to admire the guy for thinking on his feet, at the same time poor Julie Cowell having to carry the can for Simon. Of her ubersuccessful son, Julie conceded: "He was a difficult child, he knew what he wanted and sent you barmy getting it. He was one of these children who made up their mind from a very early age and was very competitive as a child." But did he always wear those tummy huggers?
