Shia LaBeouf has sensationally claimed that a woman raped him during his #IAMSORRY performance art installation earlier this year. He said the incident happened while he was alone in a gallery while his girlfriend Mia Goth was waiting in line to see him.

In February of this year, the actor stationed himself at the Stephen Cohen Gallery in Los Angeles for 5 days with a bag over his head with a message which read "I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE". People queued up to interact with LaBeouf and the woman in question was queueing with her boyfriend who remained outside while she sexually assaulted him.

LaBeouf revealed in an interview for Dazed Digital that on Valentines Day this year "One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me. There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with dishevelled hair and smudged lipstick. It was no good, not just for me but her man as well."

He didn't resist the woman or respond in any way, which was in keeping with the spirit of the whole #IAMSORRY event where he sat in silence in order to hear what people thought of him. On when Goth arrived ingot he room he said "It was Valentine’s Day and I was living in the gallery for the duration of the event. We were separated for five days, no communication. So it really hurt her as well, as I guess the news of it traveled through the line. When she came in she asked for an explanation, and I couldn’t speak, so we both sat with this unexplained trauma silently. It was painful."

The idea behind the #IAMSORRY project was borne out of an appearance LaBeouf made in Berlin where he attended a celebrity event wearing the now infamous brown paper bag with the "I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE" message scrawled across it in permanent marker. The actor joined with artists Luke Turner and Nastja Säde Rönkkö in what was essentially a public apology for him plagiarising material from Dan Clowes for his short film Howard Cantour.com. LaBeouf is back in the spotlight again after the release of his new movie Fury recently.
