Scientology offers Winehouse a helping hand

According to the Sunday Mirror, the celebrity arm of Scientology (there's a civilian arm?) has offered to help kick Amy's bad habits with their Narconon drugs programme. It is rumoured that drugs-dustbin Amy (whose mother Janis, is coincidentally a pharmacist) is thinking about joining: "She had a call from the celebrity branch of the Church Of Scientology. She thinks they got her number through one of the American music producers who worked on her Back To Black album," said a source.

This is a religion which believes that, “each human is inhabited by alien spirits,” and was devised by sci-fi author L Ron Hubbard after he famously said; “If you want to make a little money, write a book. If you want to make a lot of money, create a religion.” Not the most sensible psychological solution to Amy's problems we've ever heard - especially with the fragile singer reportedly on suicide watch due to an unhealthy obsession with 'dying young'. Is coffee cup celebrity psychology really what Amy needs right now?
