Ronnie Corbett honoured by the Queen

Veteran comedian Ronnie Corbett has been awarded a CBE at Buckingham Palace for his services to entertainment and charity work.

The 81-year-old sketch show legend - best known for his part in the Two Ronnies alongside Ronnie Barker - has supported a number of charities throughout his career, including the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Comic Relief.

At the ceremony he remembered his co-star Ronnie Barker, who died in 2005 and with whom he received an OBE in 1978. "He would have been here beside me but I like to think he is still looking down keeping an eye on me," he said.

"It's lovely to be back," Corbett told Sky News Online. "An honour indeed.

"It has been a marvellous day, you always have nerves but Her Majesty was just lovely."

The Queen herself is said to be a fan of Ronnie's gentle style of humour. She asked him: "You make people laugh. How long have you been in the business for?"
