Ronan Keating to star in The Hobbit?

Boyzone star Ronan Keating could be set to star in Guillermo del Toro's forthcoming film adaptation of 'The Hobbit'. Speaking to The Sun the Irish singer revealed that is set to try his hand at becoming thespian.

'We are going there [Hollywood] in July, Yvonne and the kids', Keating told The Sun. 'We'll get the kids enrolled in school there. It may be for six months or we could even give it a year. We'll see what happens. I've done a couple of castings... I've done an audition for 'The Hobbit'. That starts shooting in New Zealand in July so we'd be based there for quite a while instead of LA if it happens.'

When J.R.R. Tolkien dreamed up Bilbo Baggins and Middle Earth you can be sure that he had Ronan in mind for the lead role of the big screen adaptation. Keating joins Tobey Maguire, Daniel Radcliffe, Martin Freeman and James McAvoy as actors rumoured to be involved in the project.
