Rebel Wilson has been telling fibs and has lied about her age after Australian records confirmed she is actually 35. The Pitch Perfect star had purported to be 29 years old but this came into question after former schoolmates of her went to the Australian press saying she was in fact much older.

It is not the first time the Australian actress has bent the truth after telling Ellen DeGeneres that she "grew up in the ghetto" despite actually attending a wealthy school in a well-to-do area. She responded to the article by appearing to deny its veracity by tweeting "OMG I'm actually a 100 year old mermaid formerly known as "CC Chalice" ....thanks shady Australian press for your tall poppy syndrome x".

However, records with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission confirm that Wilson was in fact born on March 2nd, 1980 making her much older than the 29 years she was claiming. A former classmate also said that she has changed her name since her schooldays saying "Her name is, or was, Melanie Bownds, and she's 36. She was born in 1979 and left school in 1997."

Wilson has received support from her Pitch Perfect co-stars with Anna Camp saying "She's awesome no matter how old she is" while Skylar Astin said "That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. It's so rude to ask a woman her age, and to speculate about anyone's age. And Rebel's a great person so who cares?"
