None of these are in any order so don’t give up on this gallery thinking that we’ve brought you the best episode first, each of these are classics that demand re-watching. The first one we’ve had another look at is from season 2, episode 4. This one’s got some of the best Montgomery Burns lines as he’s the major character in the piece. The story is about Burns running for office and involves the jingle: “Only a moron wouldn't cast his vote for Monty Burns.”

The Rosebud episode from season 4 is another classic. Of course it’s based on Citizen Kane but you don’t need to have seen the classic movie to get the jokes. This one’s another with Mr Burns at his best. Greatest line goes to Smithers though: “Look at all the wonderful things you have, Mr. Burns: King Arthur's Excalibur, the only existing nude photo of Mark Twain, and that rare first draft of the constitution with the word 'suckers' in it.”

Our next one is an awesome Marge staring episode again from season 4. Marge v Monorail offers a lot of the classic comedy and heartfelt characterisation that’s brought the show so much success over the years.

Homer’s Barber Shop Quartet from season 5 is another favourite. The Beatles-esque rise and fall of the group makes you laugh out loud even when you’ve seen it for the millionth time.

The Last Temptation of Homer is a classic because it gives us Homer as an attractive man. This one features the beer-swelling idiot falling for the charms of a lady called Mindy.

The Simpsons does parody like no other TV show and there’s probably no better example than their 101 Dalmatians take off – Two Dozen and One Dalmatians from season 6.
