Pattinson feels "naked" with an English accent
Robert Pattinson is unlikely to be mistaken for Robert Patriotic any time soon. The Twilight actor has admitted that he doesn’t like the idea of using his native accent in a film because English films are inferior.
"I feel very naked with my British accent," he said. "I feel like I’m not really acting. And also, English things aren’t very good." Well there goes your part in the next Ken Loach or Mike Leigh film Rob, bet you’re sorry now.
On the subject of feeling naked, Pattinson also got onto the subject of nudity in films, without too much persuasion. Talking about his role in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, Pattinson admitted he was comfortable to be naked on camera.
"I don’t really have a problem with those scenes or nudity in general," he said. "I think it’s more complicated for actresses who are worried about how those scenes can be exploited by the media and how naked photos are constantly getting posted on the internet."
Actual sex scenes, he admitted, were a little trickier. "The sex scenes were more difficult. It was kind of strange but in the script we were supposed to climax at the beginning of the scene then have this discussion afterwards. But David had the brilliant and inspired idea to have us talk while we were having sex."
Pattinson was initially hesitant about accepting the role in Cosmopolis because he felt the character was confused. He is glad the director persuaded him. I felt that I reached a new level as an actor while making this movie. I kind of manned up and stopped worrying so much."
