Isn’t it nice when a celebrity gives back to the world? And it’s especially nice when we find out someone we didn’t think had a heart, does in fact have a mushy ball of muscle pumping in their chest.

Simon Cowell has proved that his Mr Nasty persona on such TV shows as X-factor, is in fact an act. After hearing the heartbreaking story of a struggling couple and their 3-year-old daughter, who suffers from an aggressive form of cancer, Simon has paid off their £80,000 mortgage.

Okay – so the cynic would mention this was announced to millions of viewers on hit chat show Oprah and £80,000 is a drop in the ocean for the multimillionaire. But we’re sure the family concerned really don’t care. The most important thing is that life has now been made a whole lot easier for their already suffering daughter.

Something really good was done and we just wish more celebrities would do the same – even if it is just for the publicity…
