The Brit Awards

So the Brit award nominees have been announced and we all wait in baited breath to tune into the legendary show. But not wholly because we want to find out who wins…

Yes, the Brits are famous for rather different reasons than, say, the Grammy Awards. No matter how hard we try we can never seem to rival the US awards in their sleek and supremely polished finish.

The Brits are more of a matt finish… more rustic than urbane. Less glossy, but essentially more interesting. Who cares about who wins as the crows oohs and aahs at hastily choreographed dance routines anyway? What we love is a good bit of car-crash telly…

We want celebrities bumbling their lines (Sam Fox and Mick Fleetwood), stage invasions (Jarvis Cocker) and general bad behaviour (Chumbawamba). This year, the awards are being hosted by the erstwhile wild man of rock Ozzy Osbourne and his former celebrity wife. Let’s see how long they can go before one of them says something they shouldn’t. We can’t wait.
