It’s a New Year and with it comes a new Big Brother series. (Yaaawn!)  But this time (as we reported last year) it has a new twist. They’ve filled the house with a bunch of whizkids and Big Brother is ruled by…wait for it…CELEBRITIES! (Cue golf claps…)

Yes, in a bid to freshen up an extremely tired format, they’ve employed a bunch of celebrities (because the last time they enlisted celebrities it was sooo successful…) to bark their orders at gifted young individuals. 

Taking over the Big Brother’s reign of terror will be artists Jake and Dinos Chapman, art critic Brian Sewell, ex-footballer Ian Wright, punk manager Malcolm McLaren and comedians Jimmy Carr, Matt Lucas, Joan Rivers and Leigh Francis – better known as his Bo Selecta character Avid Merrion.

The contestants all excel in different fields – ranging from a conceptual artist who plans to enter the experience for the Turner Prize to a roller-skating contortionist (we might just tune in for that one).

The new series, entitled Celebrity Hijack, kicks off tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
