A new soap, entitled Echo Beach, is to air on ITV on January 11, but this is a little different to the norm. In the soap-within-a-soap, we follow (deep breath) the fictional lives of those who star in the drama in a fake behind-the-scenes documentary. Got that?

Echo Beach, and the mockumentary Moving Wallpaper about its creation, star Jason Donovan and Martine McCutcheon. Famed for their roles in Neighbours and EastEnders, who better to star in this small-screen drama?

Both a tribute to and satire of the soap genre, it looks likely to be a hit –especially since it’s from the pen of top EastEnders scriptwriter Tony Jordan.  With these TV heavyweights we’ll definitely be tuning in!
