When it comes to fast on-screen action, Sly, Arnie and Bruce Willis are undeniably the cream of the crop. In reality, though, these all-action heroes are decidedly boring – at home in their rocking chairs, reading in front of the fire. Real-life carnage has a rather different aesthetic. Skinny, blonde and smashing things up, it’s the ladies who provide the real-life stunts. 

This year has seen the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie belting it down the motorways of California, in high-speed car chases that put most action flicks to shame. Even here in Britain it is left to Miss Winehouse to provide the mad action, racing across the streets of London armed with just a messy beehive and smoke-filled lungs. So what’s going on? Why have the girls gone wild? This is one bad case of PMS…
