Mr Nasty? Not me

Michael McIntyre, as we all know, is a dreadful stand-up comedian. It is an incredible mystery how someone with such little personality, wit or originality has made it as high up the showbiz chain as he has, but we’re just going to have to accept it. Especially now that he has a judge’s birth of Britain’s Got Talent.

Yesterday it was reported that McIntyre made a nine-year-old cry with a joke that backfired – ironically probably the funniest thing he’s ever done – but he has said that he didn’t want to become the show’s new Mr Nasty, a sobriquet that Simon Cowell earned by sneering at the general public in a vicious fashion.

‘When you watch the show, and hopefully enjoy it, you will see that I’m not a Mr Nasty by any means,’ he said to The Mirror. ‘I’ve had such a wonderful month at the auditions and I have been teased quite a lot for being too nice to people, because I know what they are going through. It’s been a very intense month, but the best I’ve had in my career, because it’s been so much fun.’
