Miley Cyrus brings in the New Year with a 'Bangerz' performance

Miley Cyrus conquered New York’s Time Square during the "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest" concert last night.

The 21-year old singing star took to the stage wearing a full-length white fur coat (obviously there were no PETA activists in the crowd) and a shimmering and sparkly gold crop top that bared her midriff and matching trousers in the slighty sub-zero temperatures.

Miley belted out two of her hits from the Bangerz album, "Wrecking Ball"and "#GETITRIGHT" as the reveling crowd of almost 1 million people waited for the countdown to the new year.

Just a few hours before hitting the stage, Cyrus informed her 16 million odd Twitter followers that she wasn’t in the best physical conditions afflicted by a cold and cough: “this cough/cold is not a good combo. please keep praying for me. If I can just get thru tonight I can have a nice lil break”

Well, Miley did get through the night with another of her show-stopping performances, annd with no hint of a cold or cough, confirming once again why she was MTV’s top artist of 2013 , and that she will continue to be a force to be reckoned with, and just as successful in 2014.

Cyrus told Ryan Seacrest, who hosted the New Year’s Eve show - with help from Jenny McCarthy - that her outfit for the night was ‘the most clothes I’ve been in in 2013. Because of the cold weather and standards and practices, this is what we came up with.'

Talking about her incredible year she added,'The biggest moment for me was the VMAs, it was the beginning of a chapter for me.'

Other performers included from Pitbull, Blondie, Capital Cities, Daughtry, Jason Derulo, Fall Out Boy, Florida Georgia Line, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Icona Pop, Enrique Iglesias, Billy Joel, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Robin Thicke and The Fray.
