This is awesome: the new Lego Simpsons set is ready and looks simply amazing!

The world's best loved construction toys manufactures has finally released the first photos of its long awaited Simpsons collection, a glorious tribute to childhood and the inner child in all of us.

For the happiness of all Lego and Simpsons fans alike, the Danish company has finally released new images of their forthcoming Simpsons series. In one word: wow!

This glorious tribute to childhood and the inner child in all of us, otherwise known as the Simpsons' Lego was first announced last year and and will finally be made available to the public on Saturday, 1st February 2014.

For the moment, all we can do is dream on while enjoying the first photos, recently unleashed by Lego and creating a worldwide buzz.

The glorious set is made up of over 2,500 pieces, enough to build the exact replica of the Simpsons’ Springfield home, plus of course the little Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and Ned Flanders character figures.

Another line of 16 minifigures are expected to hit stores in May 2014 to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, while at the same time Fox will broadcast a special Lego-themed Simpsons episode.

Well, if all the five Simpsons family members and the iconic house at 742 Evergreen Terrace are the first part of the collection, I personally expect a Lego Moe's Tavern in the next round of releases.

Jokes aside, when Lego first presented the project it encountered some criticisms from those who considered the Simpsons “not a kid-friendly theme".

But the backlash only hit briefly and online, with the Simpsons collection now set to become a best loved Lego range for children and grownups alike.

The set will be available in the UK with a price tag of £179,99.
