Kesha has entered rehab for an eating disorder

Pop star Kesha has entered rehab for an eating disorder and 48,000 of her Facebook friends have supported her. The “Die Young” singer has started a 30 day period in rehab and broke the news on Friday through her Facebook account. She checked in early on Friday at Timberline Knolls, a facility just outside Chicago. It’s the same place that Demi Lovato got help during 2010.

"I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself but I've found it hard to practice," Kesha said through Facebook. "I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder ... to learn to love myself again. Exactly as I am."

By Monday night her post had nearly 48,000 "likes” which is a great show of support from her fans. According to rumours pressure from her producers to keep slim have tipped the star over the edge. Eagle-eyed fans will have noticed a trimmer and leaner singer from the one that emerged as an 18 year old during 2005. The music producer who signed her as a teenager, Dr. Luke, apparently slammed her appearance in one of her 2012 music videos. Reports at the time suggested that he compared her body to a refrigerator. As you’d expect, she took it to heart.

Throughout it all her fans have been at her side. “I feel like my fans are really protective of me," she said in a Rolling Stone magazine interview. In the same article she expressed her frustrations with her management who aren’t allowing her to grow. “They just want to see me grow as an artist, which I agree with,” she said of her fans. “Hopefully in the future, I'll be in a position where I can put out a ballad or a more vulnerable song.”

Going to rehab will give the singer a subject that could be used to express her vulnerable side.
