Jordan 'I was raped'

After denying reports that her boyfriend's role in an upcoming gangster film glorifies rape, Jordan has told the world that she herself was raped. "Rape is a subject very close to my own heart. I was raped when I was younger, more than once. Needless to say, I'd never be associated with anything or anyone so sick. I've never talked about this before, but I feel I have to now because I was so hurt by these accusations that I would not take a subject, which affects so many women, seriously.Someone who was close to Alex was also raped and he is as horrified as I am by these claims" she said in her OK! column.

The film called 'Killer Bitch' boasts reviews on its website ranging from "absolutely disgusting" (Daily Mirror) to "an unsavoury film" (The London Paper), and allegedly features a scene where Alex Reid throttles and attempts to rape a girl. Surely it was par for the publicity course that questions would be asked? We also can't help wondering why Jordan's horrifying rape revelation wasn't brought up before, and in a different context? (I.e not only in terms of publicity for her boyfriend's new film.) She has been accused of exploiting the private details of her life before, most memorably a miscarriage which she told Piers Morgan about during a ratings winning 'post split' interview.

Thousands of women are affected by rape everyday, and a genuine discussion in the media is great. But when it comes from such a well known media manipulator as Ms Price, do these issues lessen in weight?
