It's a Brit sombre

She's usually better know for her eccentric outfits and outlandish stage persona, but at tonight's Brit Award performance, Lady Gaga will be displaying a more melancholic side. The singer wants to turn her appearance into a tribute to Alexander McQueen, who tragically committed suicide last week. Translation: fewer hits, more acoustic warblings. McQueen's ex recently slammed the 'paper thin' fashion crowd for their insincere displays of public mourning, but as Gaga was a close collaborator and friend of the designer, we'll give her the benefit of the doubt...

A source told the Daily Mail The DailyMail ‘Lady Gaga has been left absolutely devastated by his death. She was a huge fan of his talents as a designer – but more importantly a good friend of his. And she is determined her show will be a tribute. At the Brits, it was going to be a typically wild Lady Gaga show - but now she has decided she will deliver a much more sombre performance.'

Those hoping for the usual dose of high concept pop may be in for a disappointment...
