I didn't meat to upset you

Lady Gaga has said that she didn’t mean to offend anyone by wearing a dress made of meat to the MTV Video Music Awards, which for a woman as aware as her of the impact of statement, fashion and the glaring lens of the media, sounds like a load of old nonsense. If there was a woman on the planet who knows how to cause offence, it’s her.

However, the world’s number one pop star claimed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that the dress was supposed to signify her experience as a human being, not as a snide dig at animal right’s activists.

‘It's certainly no disrespect to anyone that's vegan or vegetarian,’ she said. ‘As you know I'm the most judgement-free human being on the Earth.

‘It has many interpretations, but for me this evening it's if we don't stand up for what we believe in, if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones. (I'm) not a piece of me.’
