How rich are the current cast members of Made in Chelsea?

Residents of Chelsea earn on average three times the national average wage. It’s the most affluent area in the UK right now. OK, the cost of living is a lot higher there than other areas of the country, but a loaf of bread or a month’s rent aren’t three times more than in other areas. If you’re a fan of Channel 4’s Made in Chelsea, you’ll be forgiven for thinking that everyone in Chelsea is a millionaire. There are some deprived areas of the borough, but those residents are looked after by so-called “mansion taxes” that hit the more affluent guys hard in the pocket.

Sam Thompson

Cheeky Sam Thompson, who always needs his big sister’s advice to help steer through his overly emotional love life, is a millionaire. He’s been in the show since 2013, so fans have got to see him come out of his sister’s shadow to become a main member of the cast. He’s not come from a monied background like Jamie Lang. Sam’s mum is a property developer and interior designer named Karen Thompson, and Sam had to intern for Jamie in the early years of his career. The bulk of his fortune’s come from reality TV. You might have caught sight of him on Celebs Go Dating and Celebrity Big Brother.

Jamie Lang

According to Jamie, he’s only worth £2 million. That’s a far cry from the £485 million we’ve read. As the heir to the McVitie’s biscuit fortune, he should be worth somewhere close to half a billion, but Lang claims his father sold the company in the mid-90s. Whether that’s true or not, the man’s the great-grandson of Sir Alexander Grant who owned the company and is credited for creating the digestive recipe that’s still used to this day. He’s lived a life of privilege and had several helping hands along the way, so the £2 million he’s amassed for himself seems a little low considering he’s been a celeb in his own right since the second series of MIC aired in 2011.

Tiff Watson

Tiff’s a lot more down to earth than other members of the cast. Her father runs a chain of pubs and restaurants which has made him £90 million. That’s money which will head towards Tiff and her sister later in their life. At the moment, Sam’s ex has to make do with £500,000. She’s the head of Three Six Five, a vegan accessories brand, but we assume most of her money comes from her status as a TV personality.

Alex Mytton

Alex has been a regular on the show since 2013. As well as appearing on TV, he makes his money from DJing and producing. He also works with gin company Piston Distillery, so he’s got a lot of fingers in a lot of pies. This guy’s worth £600,000.

Olivia Bentley

Like Alex Mytton, Olivia Bentley’s worth £600,000. Like Jamie Laing, she’s said to be the heir to a massive fortune. This time, she’s the one making the claims which the tabloids refute. Her claim to be an heiress to the Bentley car fortune is probably tenuous as VW owns Bentley. If she’s got any financial links, wouldn’t they have disappeared during the 1998 takeover of the business? Either way, she’s not poor.

Mark-Francis Vandelli

Mark-Francis is the poshest person on MIC. He might well be the poshest in London. He knows about art and wine and speaks with an accent that’s refined and very British. He’s from a royal bloodline which probably won’t surprise you. His full name is Mark-Francis Vandelli Orlov-Romanovsky, and his parents are Russian princess, Diane Boulting-Casserley Vandelli and Italian industrialist, Marzio Vandelli. He owns a French antiques business in Paris and inherited a massive fortune from his mother, but he’s only said to be worth £2 million.
