Hoff with his head

David Hasselhof's reign as the new King of Light Entertainment may be about to come to a sticky end, after reports that ITV are considering axing him from Britain's Got Talent, after lacklustre ratings. David, along with panel members Amanda Holden and Michael McIntyre have been blamed for a poor series of the once popular show. Sources claim that the judges are seen as 'too nice' and 'lacking in chemistry'. Having a job in a talent show seems to be the most precarious way of earning a living these days.

A gossipy telly insider told The Sun, 'David was a great booking at the time. We thought he'd bring loads of laughs and warmth but it didn't work out. He was fun but had no connection with the acts. The panel lacked sparkle and it was reflected in the acts that went through. ITV want a new panel as it didn't work this year. Most acts were below par and the chemistry just wasn't there.'

The new panel was assembled last year after Simon Cowell ditched the show in order to focus on the US version of X Factor, which will hit our screens imminently. Piers Morgan was also poached by US TV producers, who chose him to replace the ailing Larry King on CNN.

Asked to respond to the claims that the judges were facing the axe, ITV gave a non-commital reply which may seal Hasselhof's fate. Their spokesperson said, 'It is too early to confirm the panel for the next series.' Ouch - in TV speak, this means 'it's all over, pal.'
