Excite

His name is finished

Fans of daft but loveable and very funny American sitcom My Name is Earl will be having a quiet with themselves today, after it was announced that the show will not be returning to our screens.

The comedy, which starred Jason Lee as small-time-crook turned karma crusader Earl Hickey, was dropped by NBC last month, but there had been hopes that another network would pick them up. However, the producers have confirmed that the show has definitely ended for good.

'While we had hoped to find a way to produce additional episodes for TBS, in the final analysis we simply could not make the economics work without seriously undermining the artistic integrity of the series,' said a spokesman.

'As none of us want the show to go out on anything but a high note, we regret that we must put to rest any speculation that “Earl” will continue.'
