Harry Hill to quit TV Burp

Harry Hill is reportedly set to quit the hit show TV Burp when his current lucrative contract with ITV runs out next year.

The Sun reports that the 46-year-old has informed ITV executives that he will see out his current two-year deal, which runs until 2012, before calling time on the popular Saturday-night show after ten years.

Avalon, the independent producers behind TV Burp, have made it clear that a final decision on Hill's involvement with the show has yet to be made.

'Harry has a lot of commitments in the next year, but a final decision has not yet been reached and everyone is very much looking forward to the upcoming series,' a spokesperson for Avalon told the Guardian.

However, reports suggest that the current series of the hit comedy show, which starts tomorrow night, will be the last as Hill has grown tired of the gruelling preparation required.

ITV are reported to have offered the 46-year-old father of three, who also hosts You've Been Framed, a £1 million pay rise as part of a new contract but it seems that Hill wants to pursue other projects.

The Sun claims that the funnyman has been offered a writing role on Simon Cowell's forthcoming X Factor the Musical which will hit the stage next year.

ITV have refused to deny the claims that Hill will be leaving the station focusing instead on promoting the upcoming series of TV Burp.

'Harry Hill's TV Burp returns to ITV1 for a new series next week, with a further series in early 2012,' a spokesperson for ITV told the Guardian. 'We have a great relationship with Harry and look forward to this continuing.'
