Gary Coleman dies aged 42

Pint-sized actor and former star of 80s sitcom Diff’rent Strokes Gary Coleman died yesterday at the age of 42 after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He had been in hospital since Wednesday after accidentally falling and hitting his head while at his home in Utah, where his condition rapidly deteriorated from ‘conscious and lucid’ to being put on life support on Thursday.

His death comes after a series of recent health complications for Coleman, who had been in hospital three times this year, once after suffering a seizure at a TV studio. In fact his life had been beset with health issues; he had two kidney transplants to save his life before he was 14, and complications as a child meant that he never grew above 4ft 8in.

‘Gary is now at peace,’ said his manager John Alcantar. ‘And his memory will be kept in the hearts of those who were entertained by him throughout the years.’
