Garraway’s great escape is over

She’s scored lowest with the judges for five weeks and yet, only on Saturday, did Strictly Come Dancing’s Kate Garraway finally get her marching orders.

Saturday’s effort had her in the bottom two of viewers’ votes for the first time, and so the judges pounced and finally got rid of her. To be honest, her performance on Saturday was like a cross between Boris Karloff in The Mummy and Kenneth More in Reach for the Skies: the Douglas Bader story. More wooden than Pinocchio. As much rhythm as a stick.

Poor Kate. She must have jumped at the chance when her agent called to say: “Kate, darling, you’ve got the Strictly gig.” It’s just that, strictly speaking, she’s really, really bad at dancing.

Should she have been given another chance?
