Film 2010 host announced

With Jonathan Ross announcing his BBC departure recently three of the biggest jobs at the Big British Castle will soon become vacant. This has spurred on all sorts of rumours about who could or would be doing what.

No official announcement has been made yet about his much loved Saturday morning Radio 2 show (Graham Norton and David Tennent are in the fold) and his long-running BBC1 chat show (Chris Evans and er, no one else is in the fold), but today the BBC have confirmed that Claudia Winkleman will take over Wossy’s duties on Film 2010. No, April 1st is on Thursday...

Talking about her new found love for film (now she’s been given the a film show) Claudia said: ‘Everyone has an opinion on film and I'm looking forward to debating the biggest news and releases with a whole variety of guests each week’.

She added: ‘I am completely over the moon about being given this enormous honour and am incredibly proud to be to be presenting the new look Film 2010. It's an honour to follow on from the brilliant Jonathan Ross.’

‘I have been lucky enough to cover the BAFTAs and present the UK broadcasts of the Oscars and the Golden Globes for years and now to be able to work with the producers on Film 2010 is just amazing.’

One blessing is that the newly launched Film 2010 will have a format change, dropping the tiresome ‘one man behind the desk’ approach and instead including a variety of cinema and music industry types. The new show will air in September.
