Fergie: 'Cheryl never wanted to divorce Ashley'

Black Eyed Peas singer and close pal Fergie has defended Cheryl Cole’s decision to take back her ex-husband after their divorce last September.

Speaking to Closer magazine Fergie said that although the Chelsea footballer really hurt her, Cheryl is now in a good place to judge the situation: ‘The next chance will be Ashley's last chance, there's no doubt about that. Cheryl's a lot stronger than she was two years ago.’ She added that Cheryl ‘really loved [Ashley] and didn't want to get divorced; she just felt she had no choice.’

It may come as a shock that the chart-topper is trying to make amends with cheating ex Ashley, but Fergie, who once joked that Cheryl could easily turn straight girls, says that her friend needs to make her own decisions; like a true romantic Fergie reckons that Cheryl should ‘follow her own heart.’

The ‘Meet me Halfway’singer wisely stated: ‘It's easy for people to say she's crazy for taking him back, but life isn't as simple as that. If love is still there and she truly believes he's changed, then she should go for it – if that's what she wants. It doesn't matter what her family, friends, or her management team say, it's her life and her decision.’
