Diversity beat Susan Boyle to win Britain's Got Talent

Susan Boyle's dream of winning Britain's Got Talent were shattered last night when the Scottish singer was beaten into second place by the dance group Diversity.

The 48-year-old has been dogged all week by rumours of temper tantrums and threats to quit the show and played it safe in the final by singing the song that shot her to global fame on YouTube: 'I dreamed a dream' from Les Miserables.

Boyle was gracious in defeat to the dance troupe from Essex, who put in a sterling performance, saying that the "best people won" before wishing them "all the best". The winner was decided by the public vote, so it appears that the Britain's Got Talent public has already fallen out of love with the big voiced singer.
