Dancing on Ice 2014: Week 10 - The Grand Finale

Dancing on Ice 2014 gave viewers a highly emotional final episode ever last night. There was some fantastic skating on offer and Ray Quinn pulled out all the stops to become the champions champion.

This season was full of former Dancing on Ice winners and for last nights finale it was a hotly contested night between Ray Quinn, Hayley Tamaddon and Beth Tweddle. The bookies had been backing Ray Quinn all season and he did not let that pressure get to him in the slightest.

Quinn scored maximum points for both his routines on the night which was enough to trump the two girls. Beth Tweedle was then awarded 3rd place as Ray and Hayley went head to head in a final showdown where they both had to perform Bolero with their partners. There was just no stopping Ray though and the judges gave their verdict by crowing him the overall winner.

After initially being left completely speechless, Quinn was able to compose himself enough to give a shout out to his skating partner Maria Fillipov. He beamed "Thank you so much for everything. This moment is for Maria. I'm proper buzzing. I'm over the moon, I really am. Drinks are on me!"

There were also huge cheers on the night when presenters Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley gave skating performances of their own. This was quickly followed by the four judges skating to a routine and the audience was loving every minute of it.

Then it was the real Bolero time as Cristopher Dean and Jayne Torvill marked their 1984 Olympic gold medal win with a repeat performance of their winning routine. The duo did the UK proud in Sarajevo with their perfect routine and their performance last night was every bit as flawless.

So that is that after 9 incredibly successful seasons. It will be interesting to see what ITV will bring to us next year to fill the void left by the retiring skaters. Farewell Dancing on Ice, it has been a blast!
