Daleks exterminated

Dr Who's arch nemesi the daleks may have been the cause for many a childhood nightmare, but it appears that the monotonous robots simply aren't evil enough to warrant a place on the BBC show. Writer Stephan Moffat has announced that he's 'retiring' the foes, because they've become too weak and defeatable.

Moffat told The Sun, 'They are the most famous of the Doctor's adversaries and the most frequent, which means they are the most reliably defeatable enemies in the universe. They have been defeated by the Doctor about 400 times. Surely they see the Tardis approaching, say, 'Oh. It's him again' - and trudge away.'

The Dr Who writer continued to sound the retirement knell for the robots, saying, 'They aren't going to make an appearance for a while. We thought it was about time to give them a rest.' Ah, bless...
