Cowell: Sting is an idiot

Sting might be many things, but he’s also a bit of an idiot. Whether it’s being paid a heap of money to perform for the benefit of the tyrannical regime in Uzbekistan or advertise cars while claiming to be an environmentalist, the man clearly lives in some sort of fantasy world where his actions have no impact on the views he imparts on the rest of the world. However, even a stopped clock is right once a day, and so it comes to pass that Sting offers us an opinion that we can agree with, slating the X-Factor as the heap of old toilet it really is.

‘It's a preposterous show, and you have judges who have no recognizable talent apart from self-promotion,’ Sting said, to hooting and shouts of ‘right ooon!’ ‘Basically I was looking at televised karaoke where they conform to stereotypes. It is a soap opera which has nothing to do with music.’

However, Simon Cowell hasn’t taken kindly to someone calling out his money making reality show behemoth exactly what it is: pony. Therefore he has started a war of words with the pop has-been, presumably because he knows people will read and write about it. The calculating monster.

‘First of all, anybody who at the age of 60 calls himself Sting is an idiot,’ said Cowell. ‘I find those kind of people… who come from quite humble beginnings and they’re (now) living in these stately homes, professing to know everything about everything in the world, and what the contestants may or may not feel… They can say that because they’ve got everything they want in their lives, but what they’re really saying is anybody else who needs a shot shouldn’t be allowed to do it.’ So what say you, Sting?
