Chris Martin : walks out of Radio 4 interview

We've had MiMi peed off during a Beeb phone interview. Peaches Geldof throwing a megastrop when her name wasn't on the VIP list at a Gossip gig. And now Chris Martin getting testy during a Radio 4 interview. What gives?!

Martin walked out of the Radio 4 interview 9 minutes in after randomly claiming he 'wasn't enjoying himself.' He had been asked to elaborate on a Coldplay concert in which Martin had claimed Coldplay would be 'going away' for a long time. "I always say stupid things and I think Radio 4 is the place that will most remind me of that" snapped Chris, obviously under pressure to not seem like he was saying stupid things on the intellectual radio show.

The interviewer then pressed on with a question about the title of latest Coldplay album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends - was it anything to do with Coldplay's curiously morbid obsession with death? "I wouldn't agree with you there at all, no. I'd say you're journalistically twisting me into saying something I don't really mean" said Martin, using big words but actually getting all in a fuddle and then realising the best thing to do was to walk out.

Smells like someone was taking the interview a touch too seriously to us. So what if interviewers ask the same dullard questions over and over again, and so what if half the time they're a bit rubbish and not very inspiring? Is it not the job of extremely highly paid artists to explain their material once in a while and not get in a huff about it - peddling the music is after all what rakes in the big bucks. Would Martin have been quite so disparaging if Coldplay were still scrabbling about for a record deal? Hum.
