Cheap Brother

As if the tawdry spectacle of the last Big Brother series wasn’t sad and unedifying enough, the producers of the spluttering reality show have come up with their cheapest (in every sense of the word), offering places as surprise guests in the house to former contestants, paying them as little as £30 a day. Some people really don’t know when it’s time to give up and go home, do they?

Fame-hungry has-beens like Nikki Grahame (series seven), Brian Belo (winner of series eight) and Mikey Hughes (runner-up series nine) have said that they want to take part in the final series, taking a pay rate that works at around £1 an hour. If only someone could get to them and explain to them that being famous for nothing isn’t the be-all and end-all – you don’t need validation from strangers, Nikki Grahame. I mean, really.

‘The producers know how keen some of the ex-housemates are to go back on telly,' said a source ot The Sun. 'Some of them will do it for peanuts. It's not about the money for them, it's about being in the limelight again.’
