We know times are tough but it appears the recession is so severe that even millionaire Premiership footballers are affected, after it was reported that Frank Lampard was spotted scrounging around for a bargain in ‘Poundland’.

According to The Daily Star, the Chelsea & England midfielder who earns an estimated £100,000 a week plus sponsorship and other lucrative deals was seen by shoppers at the store in Newtonards in County Down.

Shop manager Mark Lucas told the newspaper; ‘It just goes to show that no matter how much you earn, Poundland has such great value products that even celebrities can't resist the bargains.’

The newspaper suggests Super Frank was in Northern Ireland to meet his possible future in-laws, The Christine Bleakleys. Love the way he was searching for a bargain in Poundland, er Frank, everything is a pound, yeah?
