Catherine Zeta Jones' cancer anger

It’s not very nice when you find out a loved one has cancer, especially when doctors keep missing it and even more especially when you know something’s wrong. It can’t be very nice either having doctors tell you that there’s nothing wrong. So we can understand Catherine Zeta Jones’ rage at the docs who failed to spot her husband Michael Douglas’ throat cancer sooner.

Luckily for Douglas he has been told that he has an 80 per cent chance of survival, despite the fact that it’s stage four cancer. However, that’s obviously cold comfort to Jones, who will no doubt be cacking herself at the thought of losing her husband to a cancer that should have been spotted earlier.

‘It makes me furious they didn't detect it earlier,’ she said. ‘He sought every option and nothing was found. I knew something was up. He knew something was up. I know maybe I should be stronger, but emotionally I just don't want to see that. The hardest part is seeing his fatigue, because Michael is never tired.’
