Carla gets on Woody's Brunie

We love the pictures of Woody Allen 'directing' Lady Sarkozy in his new film. There are serious expressions a go-go and chins being furiously stroked. He must be explaining her 'motivation', or giving her a quick low down on method acting. But hang on - all the French first lady had to do was walk into a shop with a baguette under her arm. How hard is that? Answer: not very. But Woody made her do it 35 times.......

French half pinter Nicholas Sarkozy even turned up to hurry his wife along. The Daily Mail provides some classic, cutting commentary: 'The baguette scene could not have been simpler, but Carla wanted to make it a big one. That’s why she had to keep shooting it over and over again – at least 35 times. Woody Allen was prompting Carla constantly, although he was very careful to show a lot of respect, especially as she was surrounded by security guards.Allen was particularly low key when President Nicolas Sarkozy himself turned up to supervise his wife’s latest career move. Mr Sarkozy, who was wearing a suit, stood by with his own team of security guards, although he did not look particularly enthused by Carla’s acting, said another onlooker.'

Two things - how exactly do you make a baguette scene bigger? And Sarko 'supervising'? Surely he has a world stage to be hopping around on...
