Cara misses out on Fifty Shades but grabs GTA role

Swings and roundabouts for the career of supermodel Cara Delevingne. Reports say that she has missed out on the key role of Anastasia Steele in the upcoming film version of soft-porn ebook sensation Fifty Shades Of Grey. On the plus side, she will feature in the latest Grand Theft Auto video game.

The history of models becoming actors is not entirely inglorious, but Delevingne's screen test seems to have failed to convince producers that she could convey the cliched, two-dimensional character of Anastasia (although it's possible that the film may employ more talented writers than the Fifty Shades creator EL James).

Delevingne does have a considerable amount of clout though and her people are keen for her to be involved in the production, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. "Cara is a global icon now," a friend exaggerated in The Sun. "and a good actress as well and Sam wants her in the movie – though which part exactly hasn’t been established."

Having spoken to people who know other people who overheard a conversation between some other people who might have read the book, we believe that Anastasia is pretty much the only female character with a substantial part, but no matter, there's always the possibility of changing the story entirely to suit the model. "Her agent has also been talking to Kelly Marcel, the screenplay writer," that friend added. "And, if needs be, a strong role will be written in for her."

That's nice. Meanwhile in the world of pixels, Cara will appear as a radio DJ in the latest Grand Theft Auto game. She tweeted a picture of herself attempting to look grungy in a Los Santos baseball cap. "I am so happy to announce that I will be a radio DJ in @rockstargames new GTA V coming soon! Tune in!" she enthused.
